What is the best way to restore an antique oil lamp and turn it into an electric lamp?

My grandfather left me an oil lamp that sits on the table top.  It is an antique, and very beautiful, but I don’t want to burn oil in it, as it would be too dangerous.  I do want to turn it into an electric lamp, so that I can use it.  It is so much prettier with light inside.  This is something that I have never done, and I am not sure where to begin.  What is the best resource, and what would I need to do?
