If the photo is in good condition, all you need to do is make sure you use acidfree protective sleeves or envelopes to store them, and keep them away from light and humidity. Use archival quality album if you want to store them in a photo album

If they are valuable and show damages, you might want to pay for some minor restoration to avoid further deterioration.

You can also have them digitalized (a specialist will be able to make the digital version looking pretty good by removing some of the visible flaws, correct color balances and much more).

What you want to do and the money you want to put in for photo conservation really depends on how you cherish these photos or are valuable they are.

Photographs are best off stored in acid-free albums in a cool, dry place. If there’s already damage beginning, you might want to think about scanning it first so that you preserve the image in any case, then storing it away.

If you want to display it, keep it out of direct sunlight and rotate it with other images if you can. The less time it spends in the light, the longer it will survive.
